Branding: Soul Connect

I always love a company that speaks the truth that is close to their heart. My lovely friend Katie recently launched Soul Connect, an organization that focuses on coaching and community for women. Katie was looking for something bright and welcoming for her coaching biz, and was especially inspired by sunset colors. It was truly fantastic to work with Katie on this project, and I'm so excited to see the amazing things she does. soul-connect-logo-options

Q3 Roundup: My Favorite Projects

The first day of November is the perfect time for a Q3 project roundup, right? September and October with both insane when I moved a few states east - it's crazy how much time moving eats up. Now that I'm finally settled (and actually have a desk space again!) it seemed like late was better than never to profile a few of the great projects I worked on in July, August and September.

The biggest branding project I worked on this summer was with The Perfect Shirt, a custom shirt company. With a strong vision for their growing company, it was easy to translate their vision into a beautiful brand. You can read more about the branding process for The Perfect Shirt on a previous blog.

As their business has continued to grow, it's been awesome to see the way they've used the logos we created in action!

Website UI Design

I work with Ponya Bands on a regular basis to manage their online presence. Last quarter, Ponya wanted to update their website homepage to have a more modern look and feel. I worked on the UI for this through new homepage graphics based on existing branding. and a new homepage heirarchy.

Print Projects

I worked with cleaning supply distributor Key-4 Cleaning Supplies to develop a postcard and line card to distribute to new and interested customers. The postcard served as a mailer to Columbus, Ohio-area businesses that might not be aware of the service that Key-4 offers, and the line card will serve as an on-hand material for any new customers looking for the company's full range of options.

I've also had the opportunity to work with the Girl Scouts of North East Ohio on several print design projects. One of my favorites were a collection of folders for recruitment events, including a STEM-centric folder and a creative folder that hopped on the coloring book trend, leaving a few designs blank for girls to color themselves!

Snapchat Filters

Snapchat filters are all the rage these days, y'all. Since Snapchat announced the ability to create on-demand geofilters for an event, it's been the greatest geographical marketing tool since Facebook checkins. Geofilters are especially popular for weddings and over special events; the designs below were developed for a high school dance and a fall wedding. It's probably obvious that I developed these around the same time; they use one of my favorite fonts (Hello Sunshine) and similarly sparkly repeating graphics.

Invitation + Card Designs

One of my big goals for this quarter was to add more to my Etsy shop, where I list wedding and special event invitations for sale, as well as cards and other paper options. I had cards professionally printed for the first time ever (!) this quarter, and it was so awesome to finally list them for sale. Here's a few of the designs I worked on this quarter:

Looking ahead to Q4

There's lots of good things on the way for Q4! I'm currently finishing up two large-scale social media + design projects, which will make room for some more small-scale projects like you see here. I'm looking forward to creating a few holiday card designs, as well as beefing up my invitation designs since wedding season will be here before we know it! I'm also looking to sell some illustrations on different products, such as stickers and printed posters.

And if you're looking to collaborate -- give me a shout anytime! I have availability in the coming months and would love to chat.

Wedding Signs: September 2016

One of the best perks of being a designer and letterer is the ability make your own gifts. When this year's wedding season coincided with launching Anchored, I knew that creating named signs for weddings would be a great way to grow my skills and provide a unique, special gift for these couples. Here are the signs I created for two weddings this month:

Branding: The Perfect Shirt

I recently worked with the folks over at The Perfect Shirt to create branding assets for their new company. It was wonderful to work with Robert and Leslie to create the perfect logo and branding elements for their business, which produces custom, tailor-made menswear created in the USA. Robert and Leslie were looking to create a classic visual brand that would be featured on their digital platforms as well as clothing tags. Here were the initial logo options we started off with:

Leslie and Robert liked the final option the most, as we adapted the first logo to the same typeface and shirt graphic as their secondary logo.

Here are the final logos, business card and stationery mockups, and brand colors:

Here is what The Perfect Shirt said about working with us:

We are a small business just getting started on our venture and Anna came to mind after seeing her work online to help us create our brand visually. We were impressed with Anna's professionalism, options, creativity and ability to deliver timely results that helped us continue to move forward to launching our business. We are so happy with the designs she created and have been able to use them to continue building a brand that perfectly represents our business and our values. I would highly recommend working with Anna for anyone who has branding or design needs - it was a seamless, affordable, wonderful process!

As Robert and Leslie have kicked off their business, it's been so fun to follow their work and see the branding elements we made in action. One of the coolest experiences so far is seeing the logo we created on their clothing tags! (photo from The Perfect Shirt's Instagram)

Best of luck to The Perfect Shirt! Can't wait to see the great things they do. You can find them on their website, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

I love selling on Etsy because of how super easy it is to list and sell your items. You can even sell a product that can be downloaded, like digital prints. It's a super affordable way to jazz up your walls or workspace while still supporting small artists. I've been playing around with different digitizing techniques lately, and was really digging the metallic/watercolor combination on this lettering. I've listed these three inspirational prints in my Etsy shop for digital download - I think that all of these would look so awesome in an office or bedroom to inspire you every day. If you'd prefer to have one printed or in a different size, just give me a holler! Just click on the images below to shop.

The Only Failure is Not Trying

Design: Club Creedmont Crew

When a friend approached me to create a shirt design for her bachelorette party, I knew we could create something for this fun day leading up to her wedding. The design was for a tank top given to all attendees during the party, which was at her family's pool. With the location of the party affectionately referred to as "Club Creedmont," and a theme of pink flamingos, I loved the way the final design turned out. Club Creedmont 3

Design: Ponya Bands

Some of my favorite design work that I've done recently is for Ponya Bands, an athletic wear company headquartered in Louisville, Kentucky. Ponya Bands manufactures non-slip headbands and absorbent sweatbands that are both functional and fashionable. I've been able to do both print and digital design for platforms including their newsletter, website, and printed marketing materials. Here a few of the projects I've worked on with them this summer: IMG_2416

Square Wisdom: July

Square wisdom is exactly what it sounds like. My favorite pieces of wisdom, pulled from my Instagram feed. One of my favorite parts about owning my own business is the ability to show off and even earn a living (!) off my own creative style. Here's a few of my Instagram artworks from the last month (ish).
  1. One of Craig Sager's quotes from the ESPYs.
  2. I attended Forecastle for the second time this year; the Avett Brothers impressed as always. This is a quote from one of my favorite jams of theirs.
  3. A quote from LeBron James' "I'm Coming Home" essay from summer 2014. Nothing seemed more fitting after the amazing Cleveland Cavaliers championship in late June.
  4. I posted this gem over on Ponya Bands' Instagram account. Simply a reminder that goalsetting is important and working hard is the only thing that will get you to them.

Branding: Mascara Chicks

A few months ago, my friend Caroline, a presenter with Younique, approached me to help her out with a new logo for her business. Mascara Chicks is Caroline's platform to promote Younique products and she was looking for a cohesive look on her website and social platforms. Younique's main brand color is purple, so Caroline wanted to stick with that for a color palette. I was excited to come up with a logo that showed her business personality of fun, femininity and positivity. Here are the final logos in the two shades of purple we came up with.

Primary Logo

Secondary Logo

I adore the ways these turned out. The marks at the beginning of the "m" are a subtle nod to the makeup roots of the business, but since Caroline often shares other coaching messages on her page, they can transcend being used solely on Younique promotions.

Wedding Design: Quill Wedding Details

Two of my amazing friends from college got married last weekend at the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago. It was an amazing ceremony and reception in an awesomely unique venue. I was honored not only to be a guest at the celebration of their marriage, but to design some of the day-of details for their special day. The map and schedule of events were included in guest bags at the hotel. The purple tones and watercolor elements echoed their wedding invitations.

I also created the program and escort cards for the ceremony, which took place in front of the Shedd's dolphin tank (!!).
